ACI_Ribbon_Cutting_ImageCounterTack would like congratulate the Army Cyber Institute (ACI) at West Point on its ribbon cutting ceremony on October 3, 2014. The ACI’s mission is an important one for our country and they have assembled an incredible team led by Colonel Greg Conti and Chair LTG (R) Rhett Hernandez. I was fortunate enough to be present for the ribbon cutting on a beautiful, sunny day along the Hudson River at West Point.

As Cyber threats continue to impact our global economy and become a powerful weapon for hacktivist, criminal elements, nation states and non – governed entities, it is important to support efforts like the ACI’s in creating a better & more connected world. The institute is expected to be the U.S. Army’s primary resource for insight, advice and subject matter expertise on cyber security.

The ACI offers the chance for cadets at West Point to gain critical knowledge in the area of cyber threats, providing up to 800 hours of training through its Cyber Leader Development Program.  This training will allow select entrants to serve in specialized cyber security positions with the U.S. Army Cyber Command and other organizations upon graduation.

The importance of the institute and the coinciding training programs are proof that cyber security is a vital piece to our nation’s security moving forward.  Cyber threats continue to evolve and they will not cease to exist in modern society, the best way to combat such threats to national security is to stay ahead of the curve as much as possible.  Offering firsthand experience to some of the brightest minds in the country will go a long way towards securing our nation’s cyber defenses.
